[What's okay to mention around him/her] Everything! Van is fairly easy-going and polite. He may disagree with you and you may lose his respect if you insult his family or friends, but there's certainly no reason you shouldn't have your character do that if it would be IC. Negative CR is still good CR!
[Is there anything you need us to know about interacting with this character? Special physical features, special abilities, etc] He has two-tone hair, as seen in his icons. Otherwise, he's fairly standard.
[Can I hack that strike or otherwise find out information they'd prefer to keep hidden?] Yes, but please ask first.
[Can I troll/mindscrew/mess with in general?] Gosh yes!
[Can I spit at/jinx/step on/etc? (i.e. fighting)] Go ahead, though I'd like it if you pinged me to plot out how it was going to go, particularly if it gets physical.
[Can I flirt with/hug/kiss/use other means of non-violent physical contact with this character?] I'm going to say yes. Van is a bit of a flirt, and if he likes/knows your character well enough he won't mind. If he doesn't, you're going to get a weird look and be gently but firmly pushed away.
